Volunteer Opportunities

For the Memorial Day "Join the Team, Strike Out Teen Suicide" event, we will be needing several volunteers to help with the operations of the event.  Here are the the different tasks and open slots that you can come out to help with this great event!

Pre-Event Set-Up
We need volunteers to help cut ribbons for displays at each park.  You will pick up supplies from the MSP office and be asked to cut a specific amount of set-length ribbons for a display.

Event Set-Up and Park Decoration
We need 10-12 volunteers on Friday, May 22nd (about noon to 4 pm) during the day to help get the parks set-up for the event.  This person will be tying ribbons onto the fence and will be helping to set-up tents and other park decorating, so there will be some lifting and physical work.

At each of our main locations, we will have an information tent.  We would like to have two people per shift stationed at the site for a four hour shift (9 am to 1 pm / 1 pm to 5 pm).

  • Basehor Field of Dreams (Basehor, KS)
  • Adair Park (Independence, MO)

50/50 Pot

At the main sites, we will be selling raffle tickets for the 50/50 pot that will be split with one lucky winner and NAMI-KC to help fund teen suicide prevention programs.  These individuals will be on the move during their shift speaking with each team and their fans during the day.  This needs to be an outgoing and personable individual that likes to interact with people.  There will be two shifts (8 am-12:30 pm / 12:30-5 pm) at each park.  All parks will need two individuals except MAWSC which will need 3.
