MSP Love

In August of 2012 we lost a huge part of our family here at MSP with the passing of Josh Williams at the age of 34 in a tragic accident. Josh brought an excitement to work every day that was contagious and a laugh that still echoes the hallways here at the office. Josh had phrased a saying “MSP LOVE” that would not only be heard here within the walls at the office but many times on the diamond. He built relationships with people and showed each of us how to be a family and to live life to the fullest each day. We have one HUGE family with MSP that covers our staff, umpires, coaches, parents, and players and we are excited to begin to work together to display MSP LOVE.

In August of 2012 we lost a vibrant friend, colleague, and mentor in a tragic accident. Many of you probably didn’t get to know Josh the way we did in our office and this drive and energy he had was because of the heart he had for people. It didn’t matter who you were, it was his goal to make sure you knew how important you were to him and MSP. This was very sincere and he really taught so many what it is like to invest into people. Besides dealing with coaches and parents through the week about upcoming events, he would love to work events on weekends so he could catch up with the coaches, but his real drive was so he could impact the kids playing in the events with some of his “MSP LOVE.”

Over the past 4 years MSP has developed a Scholarship fund through various activities.  The fund has awarded $11,000 in scholarships over these four years to deserving graduates to help further their education.  In Josh’s honor we have renamed the MSP Scholarship Fund to the Josh Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund. The main fundraiser that we host each year, an annual event that is on it third year, is our golf tournament.  We will be hosting this event on May 10, 2017, and this is where the recipients of the Josh Williams Scholarship Fund will be honored at a banquet at the conclusion of the golf tournament.

This year the application process will be open to any 2017 graduate in basketball, baseball, and fastpitch player that has played with MSP sometime since the inception of our company in 2007. Our goal for 2017 is to not only raise several thousand dollars for the Josh Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund but to also find recipients that display many of the great qualities that Josh displayed in his everyday life.

Besides raising money through the golf tournament we will host baseball events where Josh will be honored and opportunities for teams to raise money for this scholarship fund. Anyone wishing to donate to this fund, please let us know or if you have any other ideas that could raise funds for this scholarship fund please let us know.
