Specialty Tournament Rules

For 2012, MSP will be offering multiple events that will offer various special rules.  Some of these will be in terms of Home Run rules, and some will be for Equalizer situations.  We will list each of these on this page.

MSP Voucher Tournaments

$50 per team that competes in each division will be put into a Voucher fund and distributed in the following manner.
  • 5 teams or less
    • Winner takes entire prize fund
  • 6 to 12 teams
    • 1st Place receives 70%
    • 2nd Place receives 30%
  • 13 or more teams
    • 1st Place receives 60%
    •  2nd Place receives 25%
    •  3rd Place receives 15% 
Vouchers can be redeemed for a future MSP Slowpitch event (some exceptions apply). 
**EXCEPTIONS: Hooters or any USSSA State, National or World Tournaments.

Paid State Entry Events

The winner of each division will receive a paid state tournament berth.
For divisions that have 12 teams or more, the runner-up will receive a 1/2 paid berth.
  • Only the winning and runner-up (when applicable) teams may receive these awards.  They will not pass down.
  • Teams will be responsible for entering and paying for their State Tournament.
  • Entry fee will be reimbursed AFTER the State Tournament and the team has competed in the event. 

Your Choice Equalizer

Tournaments designated as “Your Choice Equalizers” will allow the lower class team to choose between the following options:
  1. Play with 11 Defensive Players
    • Will not receive 4 run per class spot
    • Will play by their class' home run rule
  2. Take 4 run per class spot and play by their class' home run rules
    • Will play with 10 defensive players
  3. Play by the upper division team's home run rules.
    • Will not receive 4 run per class spot
    • Will play with 10 defensive players

Unlimited HR Equal.

Normal equalizer rules will be used and each team will be allowed unlimited homeruns. A no inning will start after one hour time limit will be in effect.

3 HR & 1 Up Equal.

Normal equalizer rules will be used and each team will be allowed three homeruns after each team reaches three homeruns the one up rule will be in effect.
  • A time limit will be in effect for this type of event.  No new inning will start after one hour time limit has expired.
**1-Up Rule
Homeruns are allowed but neither team will be allowed more than one more than the other team. A no inning will start after one hour time limit will be in effect.
