| 2009 I-70 USSSA Softball Series |
MSP and Kansas USSSA is proud to bring back the USSSA I-70 Series for 2009. The USSSA I-70 Series will be played at venues in cities along I-70. It is open to teams from all states, but highlights softball in Kansas. There will be stops in Kansas City, Lawrence, Topeka, and Manhattan. At each of these USSSA tournament stops, MSP will set aside $25 of each entry fee into a fund. This fund will be distributed as USSSA World Series travel money. This prize will be awarded one week prior to the USSSA World Series that the winning team is attending. Below are the dates and locations of the four events of the USSSA I-70 Series.
| Date | Tournament | Complex | City | Divisions Offered | Format | Cost** |
| April 4-6 | Phenix Spring Slugfest | Clinton Lakes | Lawrence | 10-14 A/B | 4GG | $360 |
| May 15-17 | Lake Shawnee Classic | Lake Shawnee | Topeka | 10-14 A/B | 4GG | $360 |
| June 5-7 | Capital City Showdown | Lake Shawnee | Topeka | 10-18 A/B | 4GG | $360 |
| June 12-14 | Bite Outta the Little Apple | Twin Oaks | Manhattan | 10-18 A/B | 4GG | $360 |
**There is no charge at the gate for parents, fans, and other spectators.
For the 10’s, 12’s, and 14’s, all four events will be used to generate the travel fund that will awarded to the winning team(s) at their USSSA World Series. The 16’s and 18’s will be available for the final two events only. We will attempt to split divisions (A&B) per age group as much as possible. The prize structure and scoring method will be determined by the number of times that each age group is played at one of the tournaments. (Example: We will probably have a 12B division in all four of these tournaments, therefore the prize pool will be greater so we will award to multiple prizes. However, we may only have a true 14A make two times in this series so we will give the prize money to just the champion of the series for those 2 tournaments.) There will be a point system used for tabulating by using the order of finish in each Series event. This point system will not only reward the team that places well in a tournament but rewards the team that participates in ALL legs of the USSSA I-70 Series (each team will receive 25 points just for participation in each event). Teams are eligible to qualify for multiple division prizes. (Example: If a team plays in all 4 tournaments and they are a 14A, but play in 2 14A divisions and then move to 16B, they can receive the prize from each division if they have enough points, in each division.) Listed are the point totals and how they will be awarded for each event in the series. These will be determined by a team’s final order of finish in a Series event. |
